B. Creating an RCampus Website

Follow the self guided tutorials to create an active educational website. Tweet your new web address for all to view and comment. Remember to use the Web Page Rubric to score your Web page. Submit your self evaluation for credit.
  1. Create RCampus Account
  2. Develop a teacher website that includes a class, an assignment, a rubric, and additional links you could use to teach your class.
  3. Create a simple Rubric that you will or could use. Notice, I use the higher score closer to the left. I want my students to show their very best, so I make it the first thing they read for each column.

C. Create a Wiki: There are various free online programs to help you create a Wiki


Sample Wiki

  1. Watch the different tutorials on how to create and edit your wiki.
  2. Decide on a use for a wiki in your classroom. Wikis have been used to house lesson plans, curriculum guides, and even used to allow student posted material.
  3. Create a wiki that you could use in your classroom. Within the wiki, explain the purpose for the wiki, embed a video, upload pictures, links, and documents that could be used in your instruction.
  4. Tweet your final link for all to view and make comments.

D. CamStudio

Free Open Source Tool for recording screen work. By creating how-to videos, learners can demonstrate what they know for future presentation as well as utilize other presentations to learn new technology. The ideas for creation are endless.
  1. Using the CamStudio or the Purchased version Camtasia,create a presentation that teaches something you know how to do. It could be how to create an email or something you would use in your classroom.
  2. Post your video to YouTube.
  3. Tweet the link.

Voice Thread:

  1. Watch the linked video.
  2. Create a voice thread account. Uses for Voice Thread could include oral assessment for Foreign language classes, understanding of a scientific experiment set up, or even group discussion about how to solve a problem. By making every student in the group contribute a unique idea, all children are showing participation. Differentiation could simply be the expected outcome of the Voice Thread participation.
  3. Create a voice thread you could use with other teachers, a class of children, or some other group.
  4. Share your Voice Thread on the class Twitter.


G. Web Quest: These are a collection of websites connected by a common question, task, or story that links to the curriculum. They can be used to encourage many thinking skills such as:

  • Comparing and contrasting
  • Inducing and deducing
  • Analyzing or classifying
  • Problem solving and decision making
  • Critical and creative thinking

  • Teacher Web There are many Web Quests that have been created. If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the first page of each Web Quest you can see the date of publication. It is important when you use a Web Quest over multiple years that you verify the websites being linked. Often times web hosting can change and sites can become unavailable.
